[Book Signing] James Dashner

Feel free to writhe in jealousy, shuck faces!

It was a fun night. My only regret is not taking a photo with him. I was too shy. When I got the books signed, he teased me about my name a bit, then I told him how I threatened to break up with my boyfriend (who I dragged with) if he didn't read The Maze Runner. I made James Dashner chuckle!

  1. Awww. His signature looks sort of like a heart. I know I should be jealous, but I haven't gotten around to reading those yet. I'll let you know when I do so you can gloat then :D...

  2. I've only gotten a chapter into The Eye of Minds. It just came out on Tuesday and I haven't had a chance to really delve into it. The 13th Reality I had to buy at the signing otherwise I couldn't get an autograph, but I've been wanting to read it anyway. The Maze Runner, though, I would highly recommend reading before the movie comes out next September. I absolutely loved it. And from reading your work, I think you might too. It's short and fast paced too. I read it in about two days. My boyfriend read it in a few hours. Curse his ability to speed read!

  3. You sold me. I just bought it on my Kindle. I'm so easy. I'd heard a lot about it, just hadn't found the time. AND just started reading House of Hades- by Rick Riordan. Those go fast though. So Maze Runner is up on deck :D. This is me, preparing to be jealous...warm up your neener-neener muscles.

Not that I have a clue how you'd sign a Kindle book :p.

  4. Awesome sauce! Lemme know what you think. :D I've been waiting until House of Hades came out to read The Mark of Athena, so that'll probably be my next read. Can't wait!

I think I saw an article about an app that allows authors to sign ebooks. Might've been on iPad. I'm not sure.

  5. "My only regret is not taking a photo with him."

It's a good thing you didn't. Haven't you heard? Taking a photo with an author forces him to shift into his true form, necessitating a trip to the outer realm to rebuild his humanoid shell and replenish his strength. I've heard rumblings that in recent years they've taken to absorbing the thought energy of fans in order to increase their power, but I'd prefer not to think of what exactly would drive them to act on such a heinous desire.

...I might have made all of that up right just now. Probably because I'm a little sore I didn't get to see Dog the Bounty Hunter in person. So close, yet so far.

  6. This is a good thing to know. I will keep it in mind next time I am with an author. Not sure if I have much thought energy to absorb though. :S

    Dog...the Bounty Hunter, eh?

  7. Otherwise known as Duane Chapman -- Agent of Justice! (Well, not necessarily with that title, but he does track people down as a service to others, so I guess it counts.) He did a book signing a while back, but said bookstore was so packed I doubted I'd even be able to get through the door. And this was several hours before he was even scheduled to show up.

So I just said "Screw it, it's hot dog time" and left. No doubt it'll be a regret I take with me to my grave.
